Adding fun

 

Seeking to exploit the capabilities of their entertainment service Sky added two products that linked to their set top box.

 

The challenge

 

Design a wireless product that can play the audio of any Sky channel within 30 metres of the set top box. Also design a games controller that allows up to 4 players to play video games running on the set box.

 

The design

 

The Gnome is a stereo audio device that uses two way communication to change channel and volume remotely. The Sky Gamepad interacts with games on the STB using the same infra red signals as the standard Sky TV remote control. Both projects involved working closely with Sky's technology partners to integrate innovative electronic functionality.
